We’re looking for a Transport and Asset Manager for a job in Plymouth. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our client has a formal system to address the “Operator Licensing” requirements issued by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, and for establishing and maintaining the Plant and Equipment Asset register. The successful applicant will be responsible for communicating and training personnel to ensure concurrence of responsibility and adherence to the company’s integrated management system, legislative policy, and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following outlines the primary responsibilities and roles of the Transport and Asset Manager:
Vehicle delivery or transfer records to/from Business Unit
Develop and maintain the vehicle management system
Produce monthly reports on transport and assets, including KPIs targets.
Develop and Maintain the Plant and Equipment Asset register
Management of the Following
HGV Inspection paperwork
Maintenance Schedule and records of service
Defect Rectification, Drivers Hours and Tachographs
Logbook V5 retention, MOT Test retention, Road Tax
Assigned Driver details received and recorded
Own Vehicle Declaration collection
Driving Licence checks for Assigned Drivers (6-Monthly basis)
Agency Driver – Licence checks, Issue Vehicle Packs with vehicles
Collection of Vehicle Check and Log Sheet (Monthly)
Issuing of Vehicle Decals and Markings
Vehicle Accident Notification records to Insurers
Approval of Vehicle Expenditure
Manage and distribution of fuel cards and monitor fuel usage
Regular business unit audits, reporting findings to the Board
Keep a register of all motor insurance claims and administer the progress in collaboration with the Insurance Brokers.
Promote safe operation and driving initiatives regularly to maintain Business Unit Managers awareness of current responsibilities and ongoing issues about their vehicles.
Undertake site inspections randomly at each Business Unit to ensure the compliance to the requirements of the Services Transport Manual are being implemented, liaise with the necessary parties to carry this out.
Utilising compliance and maintenance information in the instigation of actions to minimise risk to the business, control costs and drive profitability
Enforce WTD regulations/EU Hour’s compliance amongst all staff, particularly drivers, addressing all non-conformance
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will need to be motivated, creative, organised, and willing to take responsibility for the success of your activities. You will need good analytical skills to develop a detailed understanding of transport problems and to identify, develop and maintain both the Vehicle and Plant Databases to ensure full compliance across the client’s Services business units.
Minimum of 2yrs Experience in a similar Transport or Asset management position
PC literate in programmes such as Microsoft Office
Experience in legislative compliance
System knowledge of fleet systems, Tachomaster, etc.
To be financially astute to drive cost-saving efficiencies and initiatives
