Ensuring our workforce has the right certifications is key before starting a job. In addition to this, we also look for training and upskilling opportunities for our workforce before and during the project they’re working on. These training and upskilling opportunities are offered wherever possible, ensuring we set them on a path to growth within their field of expertise.
We’re able to regularly look for and discuss these opportunities with our workforce by having a dedicated team member on-site. For example, on the Preston Western Distributor Road Project with Costain we at one point upskilled 36% of our workers on-site, and had multiple workers on-site who were being mentored for continued career growth. Having a member of the PSI Global team on-site allows us to see first-hand what more we can do to put our workforce first.
This is all in addition to our dedicated Training division, created after PSI Global became the first agency affiliate member of Train the Painter in 2022. This led to PSI Global Training, offering Train the Painter and ECITB courses for our clients and workers looking for upskilling opportunities in the Industrial and Marine sectors. We also partnered with a third-party company to be able to offer upskilling opportunities for those in the Construction sector.
“They do a fantastic job of making the lads feel welcome. Every new starter has a meet and greet with every other employee, creating a good working relationship. There’s also room for progression, placing people on courses to better themselves which is unheard of at other agencies!” -John Press, Groundworker, Costain – Preston
