For the last update of 2023, I’ve asked members of our team to share some of their highlights of the year, and what they’re looking forward to as PSI Global heads into 2024. We’ve accomplished a lot over the last 12 months, and have a lot to be proud of as a team.
“2023 has flown by in the blink of an eye, I can’t believe we’re weeks away from 2024! This year we’ve grown the number of candidates we have with Volkerstevin and now steadily have around 55 candidates on-site. They’ve won three Basin this year as well as the nine dock projects we are currently working on. At Kaefer, we’re steadily working on projects for Devonport Dockyard and have employed composite (FAFF, Cleaners, etc.), Scaffolders, and Painters for them, while also working on the Langage Power Station shut down.
Our Recruitment Administrator Cameron has completed his first year with us and has been a really great asset in the Plymouth office! Having him on board has allowed me to take the time to grow our relationship with Seetec, attending job events, taking part in their new Pioneering programme, and making regular donations to people that visit their office looking for work. We’re also continuing to support the Oasis Project food bank, and sponsor the local youth football clubs Mount Gould U10s and the Plymouth Marjons.
As we head into next year, I’m looking forward to a mental health course I’ll be taking, something that will give me valuable information to use in my day-to-day welfare and check-ins with our candidates.”
–Yasmin Lobb, Senior Account Manager, Industrial Services
“When I joined PSI Global in June, I didn’t quite know what to expect as it was my first job since leaving the Forces. Everyone here at PSI welcomed me and helped me out with anything I needed. I’ve recently gotten involved with our Community Initiative and am looking forward to helping out and getting involved with the Veterans breakfast mornings in the new year.”
–Will Mather, Account Manager, Construction and Engineering
“This year I once again managed the RISQS audit, an essential accreditation to allow us to supply the rail industry. I also took part in a Fire Warden/Marshal course back in February to help keep the team safe in case of an emergency in the office and took part in the i-act for Mental Health course at the end of the year. The mental health course was very educational and will definitely help me support my colleagues and candidates with their mental health as we head into 2024.”
–Megan Parr, Sentinel Co-ordinator, Admin Team
“This year I’ve had the opportunity to attend several events, including Keltbray’s stand down day for the A30 in Cornwall. I also recently joined Denholm on a visit to Drake Hall Prison, a women’s prison in Staffordshire, to go through interview techniques with the women there. The idea was to give them some insight into the potential employment opportunities they could have in scaffolding and construction, and was something I really enjoyed helping them with.
Along with several of my colleagues, I took part in the i-act for Mental Health training course last month. The course helped me to understand mental health more and how I can support our workforce with their mental health.
Project wise, we had an excellent year supplying the M62 and M6 for Costain. We have a lot to look forward to in the new year that I’m excited to get started on!”
–Kelsey Hurst, Account Manager, Major Projects
“My main focus this year has been our international projects. I’ve worked with a number of top companies across Ireland (Dublin, Cork, County Meath, and Limerick) to supply Electricians, Plumbers, Welders, and more. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit clients across the UK and Jersey, where we’ve supplied workers for the past 12 months.
The team has been busy with other projects internationally, mainly in India, the Netherlands and Switzerland. I’m looking forward to another busy year ahead in 2024, with a project in Madrid starting in January!”
–Demi Lee, Account Manager, Construction and Engineering
“My highlight of the year was being promoted to Account Manager, and having the opportunity to work closely with pre-existing clients to ensure we are getting the most we can from each of them to continue building our professional relationships. The main project I worked on this year was the Ferguson Marine Port in Glasgow, where we recruited both scaffolders and industrial painters over an 18-month contract.
Recently, along with my colleague Jade Metcalf, I visited the site in Glasgow to speak with the team about mental health support. Following this I completed the i-act for Mental Health course with the team, which I enjoyed and found it to be something that can be utilised both in and outside of work.”
–Katie Coggins, Account Manager, Industrial Services
“We had another busy year in our team on our existing highways projects on the A30 and M621. Two upcoming projects for us are the A66 and HS2, which is looking to be one of our bigger projects going forward.
Work came to an end this year on the Preston Western Distributor Road project, something we’ve been working hard on over the last five years. The year has also included several trips down to Cornwall for the A30, and we all rounded off the year nicely with a great Christmas do! It’s always a pleasure to be surrounded by such a great team, and I’m looking forward to everything we’re aiming to accomplish in 2024.”
