Who Did We Work With?

PSI Global in Plymouth started working with Volkerstevin at the end of 2021. Part of the VolkerWessels Group, the company are an “industry-leading civil engineering business” who provide engineering solutions to a number of different sectors, including marine infrastructure, water, energy, flood and coastal protection, land remediation and regeneration, and general civil engineering sectors.

What We Did

Across our offices and sites, PSI Global has always been dedicated to upskilling our workforce, working with them to ensure they have the skills necessary to progress in their career. Below are some of the examples we have recently completed through our work in Plymouth with Volkerstevin.

Crane Supervisor – A Slinger on-site in Plymouth attended training through the CTA Centre to be able to obtain the role of Crane Supervisor.

CSCS Cards – We regularly obtain a 6-month CSCS card for our Cleaners, Drivers, and General Operatives that start on-site without them. If they are still with us at the end of the 6-month period, we will help them to obtain their full CSCS card at that point. Currently we have two General Operatives, one Mini Bus Driver, and one Store Person going through this process.

Supervisor – We recently signed up a Lift Supervisor to a two-day course for his SSSTS ticket. This will enable him to become a Supervisor on-site in Plymouth upon completion of the course.

The Results

Upskilling our workforce has resulted in things like retained services over-time, developing skills on-site, and the contribution of new ideas and solutions. The team in Plymouth regularly offer these upskilling opportunities following career path discussions on how we can help them achieve their career goals.
