Extra Mile Winner: Megan Parr

Towards the end of May, we successfully completed an out-of-turn RISQS audit which enables us to complete SSOWP works. Completing this audit took a lot of hard work from our team, and one person who really stepped up to help get it done was Sentinel Coordinator Megan Parr. For her hard work, Megan has been awarded our Going the Extra Mile winner for May!

Meet Meg

Megan has been working with PSI Global since June 2021, starting with us as a Recruitment Administrator in our Industrial Services team and moving up to her current role as the Sentinel Coordinator in our Admin team. “I started as an Apprentice Recruitment Administrator, completing my NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration in 2022,” she explained.

In her original role, her job was to provide support to the Industrial Services team by checking compliance documents, creating and distributing weekly timesheets, liaising with clients, handling payroll queries, and more. This set her up to move over to the Admin team and grow her career in a new role. In her role as Sentinel Coordinator, she provides essential support to the Rail team by managing all rail processes and liaising with our HSEQ advisors. “I ensure all proper health and safety processes are followed, and any updates are communicated effectively.”

With her current role, Megan has found the best part to be the new challenges she continues to face. “I’ve gotten the chance to learn more about the sector and grow my organisational and problem-solving abilities,” she shared. “It will be my third year with PSI Global in June, and with that, I am excited to focus on my own personal skills development and broaden my experience.”

The nomination came from her manager, Operations Manager Sarah Ainsworth, who highlighted that Megan’s greatest strengths included “team work, organisation, and the ability to take control of a task or project, completing it to the highest standard.”

Her ability to take control of each project she works on came in handy over the last month when it came to our out-of-turn RISQS Audit.

Stepping Up When Needed

Completing the annual RISQS Audit is a key aspect of Megan’s role at PSI Global in which she provides essential evidence to get us a PASS upon completion. It’s also something she counts as the most interesting project she’s worked on during her time with us.

A lot of work took place heading into this year’s RISQS Audit. “I helped gather significant evidence for our out-of-turn RISQS Audit, permitting us to complete SSOWP works,” she explained. “It was a very last-minute decision to go through with the audit, and I had a limited amount of time to get everything sorted. Fortunately, our team worked extremely hard and we passed!”

Sarah shared that Megan’s organisation, determination to make sure everything was ready to go for the audit, and willingness to help and support anyone in the company, really stood out. “Although we had been working towards the audit for awhile, our audit was actually arranged a lot quicker than we anticipated,” Sarah pointed out. “Megan had everything lined up and in order with little time to prepare.”

Outside of the audit, Sarah shared that Megan has been extremely helpful in many ways, and is always willing to jump in and help not just her own team but other teams with any projects they need support with. “Meg is always willing to support anyone in the company, regardless of which team or office they are in. If someone needs help with a particular task, she’s happy to fit it in where and when she can.”

“Megan has always stepped up to help out with some marketing tasks here and there when I’ve needed assistance,” echoed Marketing Manager Margaret Yekulis. “She’s also been a big help taking over job posting on our social media channels and website while I’m on leave, and I appreciate her attention to detail when doing so. An all-around great person and professional to have at PSI Global!”

Taking Care In and Out of Work

Company culture is an important part in keeping everyone at their best so we can provide the best support to our clients and candidates. Megan agreed, stating that it’s important to provide the best care possible for our workforce. “Our first goal is the physical and mental wellbeing of our employees. We take this very seriously, which is why I became a Mental Health and Wellbeing Ambassador. We also honour and recognise effort on a regular basis, improving the working environment for our employees, fostering dependability and job satisfaction while providing opportunities for advancement.”

Taking care of her own mental health is equally as important for Megan outside of work. She enjoys attending Pilates classes each week, saying it’s “the best way to relax after work, allowing yourself to regain energy after a challenging day.” Additionally, she also enjoys travelling, visiting new places, trying new cuisines, and learning about new cultures.
