Going the Extra Mile Winner: Megan Parr

Each month we highlight the great work our team members are doing for both our workers and our clients. This month we have another second-time winner, Recruitment Administrator Megan Parr!

Learning and Upskilling

Megan won our Going the Extra Mile award last August when she was an apprentice in our Industrial Services team. While still working on her apprenticeship, Megan has now moved over to a new role assisting our Admin Team as a Recruitment Administrator

Her manager Sarah Ainsworth, who nominated Megan this month, said that her attitude, work ethic, and standard of work were what stood out the most. This dedication from Megan has made her an integral part of the team at PSI Global, one where she continues to progress and take on board new responsibilities.

“I am always willing to learn and undertake new tasks when they’re brought to my attention,” Megan shared. “One thing I’ve learned that has stood out is that asking for help is not a bad thing! If I ever get stuck, I’m not afraid to ask for some assistance from my co-workers, and they’re always happy to help.”

As she’s settled into her new role in the Admin Team, she’s continued to take the company values on board. Having been with PSI Global for over a year now, Megan understands the importance of making sure the needs of our workforce come first, making sure they have everything they need before going on-site.

“In my new role, I take pride in assisting all of the operatives in obtaining the qualifications they need to upskill and progress in their career,” she explained. “Sending out regular Toolbox Talks and mental health classes to our candidates is important as it shows them they have our support and that we care about their wellbeing. At PSI Global, we are all committed to taking the time to understand the abilities of our workforce to place them in the right role.”

New Team, New Role

Megan has made a lot of progress since starting with us in June 2021. Operations Manager Sarah felt that Megan deserved this second nomination due to her strengths of organisation, determination, and being a team player.

“Megan moved teams to manage many of our rail tasks in the absence of two other employees,” said Sarah. “Following her move, we discovered a lot more to the role than we expected. She’s worked really hard to not only learn exactly what needs to happen, but to ensure the processes are implemented properly within the company and get everything up to standard and up to date.”

Included in the new tasks Megan has taken on board are hosting regular meetings with the rail department, ensuring the team is completing all relevant tasks required, and building relationships with external suppliers – all while continuing to complete her apprenticeship programme, something she has excelled at.

Sarah previously shared that when Megan came in as an apprentice, she set the standard and exceeded expectations in a short time. Megan moving into a new team and taking on a new project showed that she continues to be willing to take on anything thrown her way and succeed.

Looking Forward

The last year has brought about a number of new learning opportunities for Megan. With the dedication and hard work she’s shown so far in her roles at PSI Global, we’re sure this is just the beginning for her!
