Our team members are continually working hard to ensure our workforce has everything they need on each project. We created the Going the Extra Mile programme in 2021 to highlight and reward the great work they do, and this month is our first second-time winner, Payroll Administrator Matthew McGinty!
Matt won our Going the Extra Mile award last August alongside Account Manager Leanne Doyle. This time, Matt was nominated by Senior Account Manager James Rose from our Civils Recruitment Team. The two have worked together for just over a year, and James felt Matt deserved the recognition again after Matt “went out of his way to put the effort in outside of his normal role to help reduce the workload of others.”
James explained that Matt has gone above and beyond this time by helping out with a major project the Civils team were working on. “He’s volunteered his spare time to help with the admin on a massive project we’ve got on,” he said. “He’s taken care of completing starter packs, chasing up missing information, and more. This is all majorly important to ensuring the payroll for over 100 new starters goes smoothly.”
For Matt, ensuring our workforce is looked after and has everything they need is his main priority. “Without them, there is no us, so making sure they’re happy is the main priority,” he acknowledged. “In my role, that means making sure they’re paid on time and their hours are correct.”
Receiving a second nomination has been a big boost to Matt, who feels that the nominations both have been a great motivation to help him continue to thrive and achieve more in his role. His motivation has regularly been to be the best he can possibly be and to better himself in every area possible.
Since Matt started with us in June 2021, he’s continued to grow in his career as a Payroll Administrator. James described the things that stand out to him the most as Matt’s greatest strengths are his attention to detail, willingness to help out, and his problem-solving skills. He also shared that he learned from Matt, “how valuable it is to be proactive and volunteer your help to others.”
His work motto, “there are no shortcuts to any place worth going”, hasn’t changed, but his goals and future activities have. Previously he shared with us that as a new starter his main goal was settling into his role, but now he’s hoping to take on more duties to support the growth of the business. His line manager Sarah Ainsworth pointed out that he’s already well on his way in achieving his goals and progressing in his career.
Sarah confirmed that Matt is always willing to take on more tasks to help the other teams in the office where he can, even if they don’t fall within his role. “Recently Matt has been more than happy to volunteer his time to help the Civils team,” she noted. “The team has had a sudden upturn in labour, and Matt’s help has allowed them to focus on filling jobs and making sure everything is running smoothly for both the client and the workers on-site.”
